Govinda Pattabhishekam and Annakoot Vaibhavam conducted by Sri Nandalala Religious Trust in association with Shri Murali, Sri Krishna Sweets ! Dont Miss the Grand Event

Govinda Pattabhishekam and Annakoot Vaibhavam  is conducted by Sri Nandalala Religious Trust  in association with Shri Murali,  Sri Krishna Sweets, Chennai on 26th August 2016 at 6.00 pm at Nandalala Cultural Centre- Chennai

Govinda Pattabhishekam

Krishna challenged the might of Indra, when He asked the Gopas and Gopis to stop their customary sacrifice to Indra and instead worship Mount Govardhan.
Indra, in his anger, bought on cataclysmic rains on Vrindavan, But Krishna lifted the Govardhan and offered shelter so long as the rains continued. Finally after seven days and seven nights, exhausted and humbled, unable to rain anymore, Indra admitted defeat and sought pardon from Krishna.
After seeking the Lord’s forgiveness, Indra gives Him the name Govinda, the chief of the cowherds.  Indra also bathed Sri Krishna with the water from this pond, for His great feat in rescuing the people, and so this is called Govinda Pattabhishekam or the Coronation of Govinda, the Supreme Lord, who appeared on this Earth as a cowherd, demonstrating His ‘saluabhya’ and ‘souseelya.’

Annakoot Vaibhavam

While there are many forms of Naivedhya (offerings) to the Lord such as Raj Bhog, Chappan Bhog, Maha Bhog etc, Annakut (translated as a “mountain of food”) is an offering where devotees prepare and offer a large variety of vegetarian food to the murtis of Paramatma(God) as a mark of gratitude.
A vast array of vegetarian foods is traditionally arranged in tiers or steps in front of the deities. Usually, the sweets are placed nearest to the Deities. As the tiers descend, other foods such as 'dal', vegetables, pulses and fried savory foods are arranged. A mound of cooked grains, symbolic of Mount Govardhan, is placed in the center.
