SRI RAMANAVAMI Festival on Friday the 15th April, 2016, Saturday the 16th April 2016 and Sunday the 17th April 2016.

Dear Nandajis,

GREETINGS AND BEST WISHES

With the Blessings of Her Holiness Pujyasri R. Saraswathy Sri Nandalala Religious Trust will be celebrating SRI RAMANAVAMI Festival on  Friday the 15th April, 2016, Saturday the 16th April 2016 and Sunday the 17th April 2016. The e-invite with the detailed programme will be sent shortly.

NOTE ON SRI RAMANAVAMI:

“Ramanavami is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Rama on the ninth day (navami) after the new moon day in the Hindu month of Chaitra {This year on Saturday the 15th April, 2016}

Sri Sathya Sai Baba says:
“Rama  is Veda Dharma in human form. He is Anandaswarupa (bliss personified) and Dharmaswarupa (dharma personified). On this holy day of Ramnavami you must immerse yourself in the atma as Dharmaswarupa as the motivator of the moral life”
Lord Rama was the prince of the Ikshvaku race. He was virtuous and of manly strength. He was the Lord of the mind and the senses. Brave and Valiant, He was yet  Gentle and Modest. He was a Sage in counsel, Kind and Sweet in Speech, and most courteous and handsome in appearance. He was the master of all the divine weapons, and a great Warrior. Ever devoted to the good and prosperity of His kingdom and His subjects, He was a defender of the weak and the protector of the righteous. Endowed with numerous wondrous powers of the mind, He was well versed in all sciences—in military science as well as the science of the Self.

Deep and unfathomed like the ocean, firm and steadfast like the Himalayan mountains, valiant like Lord Vishnu,   Though fierce like fire on the battlefield, He was calm like the cool breeze of the Mandara Hills, patient like Mother Earth, bounteous like the God of Wealth and righteous like the Lord of ustice himself. In the pains and the griefs of His people, His heart swiftly sympathised with the sufferers. In the festive scenes which held them in joy, He like a father, shared their joys. By His honour and heroism, as well as by His gentleness and love for His subjects, He greatly endeared Himself to the hearts of His people. Such a great person was the Lord Rama!

Naturally with so many qualities of Sri Rama one should take  Sri Rama be your ideal. This will make one to  adopt hem in your own life.    One should worship Lord Rama with love and    worshiping  of Lord Rama will be a  means to develop such virtues.

Let us resolve to install the principle of Rama in our hearts and experience bliss on the auspicious day of Ramanavami!

NOTE ON PANJANGA PADANAM

This year - Tamil New Year is celebrated on Thursday the 14th  April , 2016 . The name of the new year is 'Durmuka'. The first day of Chithirai month, when Sun enters Mesha Rasi, is celebrated as Tamil Puthandu (Varusha Pirappu).

Special pujas will be held in temples on the new year.  Homes  and houses  will be decorated with colourful Kolam.  People will greet neighbours, relatives, friends by saying 'Iniya Tamil Puthandu Nalvazhthukal' (Wish you Happy Tamil New Year).

It has been our practice to do pooja for the new Panchanga on the Tamil New Year’s day and we assemble in Temple  in the evening for the “Panchanga Padanam ” program to know what is in store for us in the coming year.

After the deeparadhana to the panchanga, the Achar/Pandit reads the benefits and ills of the New Year. He also highlights the eclipses to occur during the year, the income and expenditure during the year for each Zodiac sign in a proportionate sense.

The Samskrit word “panchAnga” is made of two parts: pancha and anga. Pancha means five and anga means a limb or part. Thus the Panchanga is a document made of five parts. These five parts are: Tithi (lunar day), Vara (day of the week), Nakshatra (lunar mansion), Yoga (luni-solar day) and Karana (half lunar day). The thithi, vara, nakshatra, yoga and karana of the first day are also read.

Neer Moor, Panakam will be given as prasad in Temple.

Each year has 12 Tamil Solar Calendar months from Chithirai to Panguni. Next Year Tamil Puthandu: Tamil New Year in 2017 is on April 14, 2017(Friday). Name of the year is 'Heyvilambi'

The scriptures state that the benefits reaped by the listener as well as the reader, are equivalent to having a dip in the holy river Ganges. The individuals hearing the Panchanga should respectfully ‘thank’ the reader and offer him our respects and seek his blessings.

Further, it has been decided to perfom SRI HYAGREEVA HOMAM also on this day. Lord Hyagreeva is also worshipped as the God of Knowledge and Wisdom. The Homam is specifically  done for the students to invoke the blessings of Lord Hayagreeva in their career ilfe.  The Homam gives strength to children to face the exam and helps them to excel in it.   It gives excellent   memory power, concentration,  success in studies, and removes the fear of examination.

Dear Nandajis,

Greetings and Best Wishes

The 4 Fridays in the month of Thai are called Thai Velli.
Thai Velli is dedicated to Sakthi, the Mother Goddess and Goddess Lakshmi. During Thai Velli all Goddess energy will be extra powerful. We should pray Sakthi to get HER divine blessings. SHE  will energise us with (a) WILL POWER , {Icha Sakthi} - which relates to a person’s creative drive, desire and motivation. (b)  ACTION {Kriya Sakthi}  (which represents the power of action - it is the ability to act efficiently to fulfill the desires  and (c)KNOWLEDGE {Gnana Sakthi} -  that leads to divinity and is the key to wisdom and  the ultimate ability to know the soul or Athma.

Hence, Thai Velli is the ideal time to approach the all-pervading Goddess and as devotees we should  offer prayers to Goddess to bless us with creativity, strong will power and knowledge.
